Our aim is to generate rich spatial experiences that uplift the architectural environments through a design oriented, energy/budget conscious, fully integrated architectural lighting that enhances spatial and social interaction within the built environment - Always with the firm belief that Light and Architecture should be seen as part of one single organism.

Carlos Hano founded the company in 2015. Prior to forming Lightchitects Studio, Carlos achieved his Architecture degree with honors at UNAM and worked at Lux Populi, where he discovered his passion for light by working in a wide range of projects in the US, Europe, Latin America and The Caribbean. His urge for a wider and more comprehensive knowledge on lighting set him on a path to be a recipient of the FULBRIGHT & FONCA scholarships, and a graduate of the MFA Lighting Design Program at Parsons The New School for Design in New York. After completion of the master’s program he worked at Sean O’Connor Lighting, in Los Angeles. During his professional path as lighting designer his projects have won several awards, including an IALD Award of Merit and an IES Award of Merit.

Together with more than 15 years in the lighting industry, an architectural degree, a master degree in lighting design, and his large experience across a wide range of project types, budgets, styles, and countries, provide a strong creative drive and technical expertise that allows Lightchitects Studio to make the most out of every project.
